We are well on our way to reaching our goal for our annual fundraiser. Thank you so much to all the families who have already contributed. In lieu of asking families to sell chocolate or collect donations from friends and family, we are asking each family to make a suggested financial donation of $50. This is our ONE major school-wide fundraiser and is a “Tax Deductible Donation” fundraiser. The major benefits of this type of fundraiser are:
- Tax receipts are available for individual donations of $25 or more; cheques must be made out to York Catholic District School Board
- It’s the only major fundraising campaign for this year
- 100% of the proceeds stay in the school
- It’s hassle-free and simple! Each family just writes a cheque. Students will not canvass family, friends or neighbours for donations.
Our goal is to raise $9,000.
If each family donates $50.00, we will reach our goal.
For every donation, a ballot will be issued per family to be entered into our prize draws. In addition, for each increment of $50 or more, the family will receive additional ballots. Prizes will include:
- Grand Prize – FOUR (4) PLATINUM seats to the Toronto Maple Leafs vs the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday, December 23 (valued at over $1,700) *Thank you to the Cerullo Family for the donation!
- Electronics
- Google Mini Home
- Bluetooth speaker
- Stiga Kick Combo Scooter
- Gift cards
- Movie passes and more
Prizes will be drawn at our Spirit Assembly on Oct. 31, 2019.
This year as always we invite the students to enjoy the Annual Spookathon Dance Party organized by our Catholic School Council.
As we approach Halloween, we anticipate the excitement of all who will celebrate and I hope that parents will assist in helping maintain safety at the school on this fun day by following these requests.
- NO FOOD OR CANDY should be shared on Halloween.
- Culture is NOT Costume: Please refrain from using costumes that represent a cultural group or ethnicity. (e.g. First Nations, Chinese, Arabic, etc.)
- Masks are NOT Necessary: Wearing masks during the school day can compromise the safety of the community. We should always be identifiable in our community so we can avoid having unwelcome guests. They may also hinder the sight of students at school.
- Weapons as Part of Costumes: Wearing Replica Weapons presents a possible compromise to the safety and wellbeing of staff and students. Costume weapons should not be part of their costumes for the day.
Many of our students will enjoy receiving treats when they go Trick or Treating! As always, we discourage students from bringing candies to school for snacks. Many candies and treats, especially the small chocolate bars that the children receive may contain peanuts or other nuts. These are great to enjoy at home. Given the variety of allergies we have throughout our building, we ask all families to be vigilant when selecting which snacks to bring to school. Fruits and vegetables are a recommended option. It is also important that students don’t trade snacks with each other. Again, we do ask that no food be sent into the school from families for celebrations (i.e. cupcakes or lootbags containing food). Your continued support of student safety is greatly appreciated.
