On Wednesday, May 8th, the OLA Hackergal’s Hackathon Club participated in a Canada-wide event where they worked together to apply coding skills they’ve learned to create an interactive project and connect with girls across Canada who were doing the same!
“Women are vastly underrepresented in the tech industry all over the world, Hackergal strives to inspire a new wave of Canadian female coders to bring equality to the booming industry.”
We were pleased that CIBC assigned a team member to attend our school as part of our all-girls hackathon. Maryam Hosseini, CIBC Sr. Director, Employee Technology Delivery & Adoption, has coding experience and she helped the girls solve problems and challenges throughout the day. Maryam believes in the importance of closing the gender gap at a young age, and she shared her experiences with the girls. The theme for the project was Mental Health and Well Being. Congratulations to all of our female participants.
