Learn From Home – Phase 2 Begins April 6

Hello OLA Families,

I hope you are well and you’re finding fun and productive things to do while staying safe and healthy!

The OLA staff send you well wishes and greetings in this special video.  Please share it with our students.  We miss them very much.

We made it through the first two weeks of school closure.  On Monday, we embark on a new journey as we begin Phase 2 of Distance Learning. The staff have worked diligently to navigate their virtual learning environments.  This is certainly not something that anyone expected so please know that everyone is doing their very best to support students while at home. Teachers will be posting messages every morning with specific learning instructions for the day.  All students should check their Google Classroom each morning. I understand that some students are having difficulty connecting to Google Classroom. If this is the case, please reach out to the classroom teacher through email and they will support you.  Alternatively, please feel free to send me an email linda.d’andrea@ycdsb.ca

Important Things to Note:

  • If you expressed a need for technology or your child has SEA tech at school, the YCDSB is working out a distribution system and schedule. More details will be shared this week.
  • Although we miss seeing you in person, getting back together online will help many of us feel connected.  Please be patient as we try our best and work together to meet the needs of all students and parents. Teachers truly are doing the very best they can under these challenging circumstances.
  • The school grounds are CLOSED. Please do NOT use the play structure or the basketball nets. It is about keeping each other safe- the surfaces are not cleaned and have been deemed closed.
  • Last week there were some students ‘hanging out’ together around the school and not keeping the 6 foot distance. Please, please, please- we are closed so that we can flatten the curve and prevent the spread of Covid-19. The kids should not be out for play dates or hangouts.

To all our OLA families, continue to be safe and healthy.

Stay positive, stay informed, stay in touch- we will get through this together, while apart.

Take care,

Mrs. D’Andrea
