February Principal’s Message

We are well into the 2020 school year. At Our Lady of the Annunciation, we are looking forward to February bringing with it the continued sense of renewal and opportunity to pursue our goals. February marks the end of Term 1 for our students. On February 11, your child/children will bring home their Term 1 Report Cards. As you are aware, our teachers are currently in labour negotiations with the Ontario Government and are exercising a withdrawal of services, including the full completion of report cards.  While we trust that the information included in this report card is an accurate assessment of your child’s progress at this time, we recognize that it may not include the level of information you are accustomed to seeing with your child’s report.  My signature indicates that this report card is valid and official for what can be expected at this time given the current labour action of our teachers. Should you have any questions regarding your child’s progress please contact the classroom teacher.

I am grateful to our staff for their work in our classrooms each day. I am also thankful when staff volunteer to provide opportunities outside of the instructional day.  Currently, there are many additional opportunities for your children to be involved in, including: Grease Production, OLA School Eco Team, Junior Boys and Girls Volleyball Teams, Intermediate Boys and Girls Basketball Teams, Luke 4:18 Committee, Spelling Bee, Student Council, Athletic Council, Healthy Schools Committee, Peer Mediators, Coding, and Choir. I thank the staff for their time and effort organizing and running these varied opportunities. I also want to thank the students for their enthusiasm, initiative and commitment towards these co-curricular opportunities. If your child has not yet become involved, please talk with them about trying something new and fun at our school.
