Energy Conservation
Earth hour is coming March 30th at 8:30pm.
Turn out the lights in your house for one hour and take a stand against climate change for a sustainable future. We hope you turn the actions of one hour into every hour! We will be celebrating Earth Hour at school on March 29th at 1:00pm.
Water Awareness Campaign
World Water Day is a global event celebrated each year on March 22nd. On this day, people around the world take action to conserve water, educate others and celebrate this vital resource.
This year, OLA will be participating in a Water Awareness and Action Campaign. We will encourage students and their families to take action in conserving water, protecting our waterways and celebrating this amazing resource.
Throughout the campaign, students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities such as making a water pledge, and learning about water conservation as well as misconceptions around bottled water vs. tap water. Simple actions at home such as using a reusable water bottle or turning off the tap while washing the dishes, can have a big impact on the environment and help to support the cause! Thank you for your support, we look forward to hearing about the unique ways your family participated in raising awareness and taking action!
Winter Walk to School Day
On Wednesday March 6th, 2019 students at OLA are invited to participate in iWalk to School Day. Walking or riding to school is great for the environment because less cars and vehicles on the road mean less pollution in the air. Plus it is also great for your health by being active. We are asking all students to walk or ride to school on Wednesday, March 6th. They will receive a participation sticker. Students that take the bus can join in the fun by walking around the field a few times once they arrive at school. Thanks for your participation! We can’t wait to see everyone walking or riding!
