On Thursday, March 9th, all staff and students at OLA participated in “The Great Big Crunch”, an annual event to celebrate local food and healthy eating in a loud and fun way. Everyone received a shiny red apple and at 2:30pm we joined thousands of other schools as we counted down together and took a synchronized bite into crunchy fresh locally grown, healthy Ontario apples. The “crunch” was heard loud and clear across the OLA school community. During the week, students also learned about locally grown fresh produce and healthy eating.
A special thank you to Ms. Giovanna Blair, chair of the Healthy Schools Committee for purchasing the apples with the Healthy Schools Grant. Thank you to Madame Turchiaro, Mrs. Kazemi and our Healthy Schools Ambassadors for leading the event.
