We are excited to announce that we will be running a series of in-class workshops in partnership with STEM MINDS to bring exciting 21st century learning experiences to the students at Our Lady of the Annunciation.
Please refer to the school calendar on the right of this website for the dates of the class workshops. All technology and materials are provided by STEM MINDS; your child does not need to bring anything extra with them.
Teachers have selected one of the programs below for their class:
ROBOTICS (for grades K-2)
In this workshop, students will learn the fundamentals of coding and robotics in a hands-on challenge-based environment! Using the BeeBot and Dash n Dot robots, students will get a play-based educational experience that encourages them to try new things, problem solve, and learn a new language; the language of coding!
ROBOTICS (FOR GRADES 3-8)
Students will learn the fundamentals of coding and robotics in a hands-on challenge-based environment. Using the Sphero robots students will work through missions during a play-based educational experience that encourages them to try new things, problem solve, and learn a new language; the language of coding!
APP DEVELOPMENT
Everyone has an idea for a great app, so learn how to make that idea a reality! Students will learn how design their own app that you can download and use right on your phone! Learn more about coding and programming, quality design, user experience and user interface, as well as marketing and testing all through a fun, hands-on workshop.
VIDEO GAME DESIGN BLURB:
Students will get to explore what it means to be a video game designer in this hands-on workshop! Using the Bloxels app, students will work on designing their first ever video game as they explore the fundamentals of successful video game design. Important game design concepts as well as planning and problem-solving skills will be addressed through this exciting workshop
